Dr. Kathleen Ayl
Dr. Ayl is a consultant, lecturer, support group facilitator and writer who has been published in Pulse Magazine, the official publication of the southern California Veterinary Medical Association, The LA Times and The Pet Press. Additionally she lectures at several National and International Veterinary Meetings, as well as various Colleges and Universities.
Dr. Ayl’s teaching circuit, comprised of workshops and a series of lectures, involves coaching veterinarians and their teams on how to recognize their client’s grief, be sensitive to it, and thereby help others through a very painful and difficult time in their lives. She is a frequent guest on various pet related Talk-Radio Show programs; Animals Today Radio, Dog Talk and Cat Chat and is the Author of two booklets;
1) "Coping With The Loss of Your Pet" (Available @ www.aaha.org)
2) " Grief and The Veterinary Team" (Available from Dr. Ayl directly)
Dr. Ayl holds a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology, and is a Certified Veterinary Support and Pet Loss Recovery Specialist. She has dedicated her practice to Pet Loss Support and Compassion Fatigue with offices in Orange, Los Angeles and Ventura Counties. Although Dr. Ayl’s private consultation clients are primarily from Southern California, she does national and even international phone consultations.
Her experience in facilitating Pet Loss Support Groups since 1996, has heightened her awareness of the fact that those who grieve the loss of their beloved animals often do not receive the support they expect or deserve from their friends and family.
Her husband, Dr. Rodney Ayl, is a Board Certified Veterinary Medical and Radiation Oncologist with offices in Ventura and Orange County. Along with the frequent intermingling of their practices, together they share their lives with six kids and a multitude of two and four legged animals and pets.
